1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how OriaNest LLC ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use OriaNest (the "App" or "Service"). By using OriaNest, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.
2. Information We Collect
Website beta waitlist. When you join the website beta waitlist, we collect your email address, your phone type (iPhone or Android), the city, ZIP code, or general area you enter, your beta-update consent, signup date, and waitlist status. The waitlist form does not request GPS or device location. We use this information to plan community launches, manage early access, and send confirmation, beta invitation, and area launch updates you have requested. Supabase stores the waitlist and Resend processes these emails on our behalf. Your waitlist information is not displayed to other members. You can withdraw consent or request deletion of your waitlist information by contacting privacy@orianest.app. We retain waitlist information for as long as needed for these purposes, subject to deletion requests and applicable legal requirements.
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address, a display name, and a chosen handle/username. If you sign in with Google or with Apple, we receive the information that provider shares with us (typically name and email). Sign in with Apple lets you hide your real email address; if you choose that, we only ever receive Apple's private relay address, and mail we send you is forwarded by Apple without us seeing where it goes. We also collect your date of birth, to confirm you meet our 18+ minimum age, and a self-reported confirmation that you identify as a woman, consistent with OriaNest's purpose as a women's community.
Profile information. Information you choose to add to your profile, including a profile photo, bio, and website link.
Location information. To show you what is happening near you, we store the coordinates of the general location you confirm — either by typing in a neighborhood or city, or by granting the app permission to detect your device's location once. We do not track your location continuously or in the background. These coordinates are held in a private record that only you can read. They are never shown to other members and are never returned to anyone else's device. Other members see only an area name and an approximate distance, such as "2 miles away." The coordinates are used to work out which local ("Village") content to show you and which members can see your local posts, and they are deleted when you delete your account.
Content you create. Posts, photos, videos, journal entries, comments, poll responses, event details, direct messages, and any other content you submit to the Service.
Relationship and activity information. Who you follow, who follows you, Groups you've joined or created, posts you've liked, saved, or reposted, and your interactions with Nest audio conversations.
Communications. The content of direct messages you send through OriaNest, and reports you submit about other content or users.
Device and usage information. Basic technical information such as device type and app version, needed to operate the Service reliably.
3. California Notice at Collection

OriaNest collects personal information from and about users to provide, maintain, secure, and improve the OriaNest Service.
Categories of Personal Information We Collect
Depending on how you use OriaNest, we may collect the following categories of personal information:
Identifiers: email address, display name, username/handle, and information associated with your account. Personal information: profile information, profile photo, bio, website link, and other information you choose to provide. Characteristics and eligibility information: date of birth and your self-reported confirmation that you identify as a woman. Geolocation information: approximate location, such as a neighborhood or city, used to provide the Village feature. Internet or network activity: information about your interactions with the Service, such as features used and app activity. User-generated content: posts, photos, videos, journal entries, comments, polls, event information, direct messages, and other content you submit. Inferences and relationship information: information about accounts you follow, followers, Groups you join or create, and interactions with content or Nest audio conversations. Device and technical information: device type, operating system, app version, and other technical information necessary to operate and secure the Service. Purposes for Collection and Use
We collect and use this information for purposes including:
Providing and operating OriaNest; Creating and maintaining your account; Personalizing your Village and other content; Enabling profiles, Groups, posts, direct messages, and Nest; Maintaining platform safety and preventing abuse, fraud, and unauthorized activity; Responding to reports and enforcing our Terms and Community Guidelines; Improving, developing, and maintaining the Service; Communicating with you about your account and the Service; Complying with applicable legal obligations; and Other purposes disclosed at or before the time the information is collected. OriaNest does not sell personal information for monetary consideration.
OriaNest does not currently knowingly share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If this changes, we will provide any notices and choices required by applicable law.
Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain your account, fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, maintain security, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and comply with legal obligations.
Different categories of information may be retained for different periods depending on the nature of the information and the purpose for which it was collected.

4. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate core features: showing you relevant local content, powering your feed, Groups, messages, and Nest audio conversations
- Determine which users can see your content, based on your privacy settings (e.g., private account, per-post visibility, follower approval)
- Send you in-app notifications about activity relevant to you (likes, comments, follows, messages, group activity)
- Maintain the safety and integrity of the platform, including reviewing reports and enforcing our Terms of Service
- Improve and develop the Service
- Communicate with you about your account or the Service (e.g., support requests)
We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not use your content or data to train AI models without separately notifying you and obtaining consent, should that ever change.
5. How Information Is Shared
With other users, based on your settings. OriaNest includes granular controls that determine what other users can see:
- Public vs. private accounts (private accounts require your approval before someone can follow you and see your content)
- Per-post visibility ("Everyone" or "Followers only")
- Who can message you directly ("Everyone" or people you follow)
- Whether your Following list is visible to others
- Whether your liked posts are visible to others
Content you post to public destinations (public Groups, a public account's OriaNest posts) may be seen by any user of the Service consistent with these settings.
With service providers. We use third-party infrastructure providers to operate OriaNest, including database hosting and storage Supabase and, as features expand, providers for audio (Nest) and push notifications. These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
For legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or if necessary to protect the safety of our users or the public.
In a business transfer. If OriaNest is acquired, merged, or its assets are sold, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy or a comparable one.
6. Your Choices and Controls
OriaNest gives you direct control over:
- Whether your account is public or private
- Whether individual posts are visible to everyone or followers only
- Who can send you direct messages
- Whether your Following list and liked posts are visible to others
- Whether you see read receipts (and whether others see yours)
- Your notification preferences
- Your location information, which can be updated or removed at any time (though this affects Village feed functionality)
7. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30-90 days, except where retention is required by law or necessary to resolve disputes or enforce our agreements. Content you've shared with others (e.g., messages you sent, reposts of your content) may persist in the recipient's or reposter's view after you delete your own account.
8. Age and Eligibility Information
OriaNest is intended for women 18 and older. We collect date of birth at signup to verify this, and a self-reported confirmation of gender identity, consistent with OriaNest's purpose as a community for women. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will remove it.
9. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit and access controls on our backend systems. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your Rights
Depending on your state of residence, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of certain uses of it. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@orianest.app. We will respond consistent with applicable law.
California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, you may have certain rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended ("CCPA"), depending on whether and how the CCPA applies to OriaNest.
Subject to applicable law and certain exceptions, California residents may have the following rights:
Right to Know/Access: You may request information about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources of that information, the purposes for which we use it, and the categories of third parties with whom we disclose it. Right to Delete: You may request that we delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain legal exceptions. Right to Correct: You may request that we correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you. Right to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing: If we sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA, you may have the right to opt out of that sale or sharing. Where applicable, we will provide the required methods for exercising this right. Please include enough information for us to understand and process your request. We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests in order to protect your personal information and account.
You do not need to create a new account to submit a privacy request.
We will respond to verified requests within the time periods required by applicable law. California generally provides businesses with up to 45 days to respond to requests to know, delete, or correct, with a possible extension when permitted by law.
Notice at Collection
At or before the point where we collect personal information, we will provide information about the categories of personal information we collect, the purposes for which the information is used, and whether those categories are sold or shared, as required by applicable California law.
Sale or Sharing of Personal Information
OriaNest does not sell personal information for monetary consideration.
If our practices change and we engage in activities that constitute a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under applicable California law, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any required notices and opt-out mechanisms.
Authorized Agents
Where permitted by applicable law, you may designate an authorized agent to submit a privacy request on your behalf. We may require appropriate verification of your identity and the agent's authority to act on your behalf.
Changes to California Privacy Rights
We may update this section from time to time to reflect changes in applicable privacy laws or our privacy practices.
11. International Users
OriaNest is currently operated from and intended for users in the United States. If you access OriaNest from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes before they take effect, such as through an in-app notice. Your continued use of OriaNest after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
